[ Privacy Policy ]

Last Updated: June 12, 2026

Welcome to GithubBackup (https://mktime.org, hereinafter referred to as "the Site" or "we"). The Site is a tool that helps users manage, sync, and export their GitHub starred repositories as Markdown. We understand the importance of your privacy and strictly comply with relevant laws and regulations to protect the security of your personal information. Please read and understand this Privacy Policy carefully before using our service.

[ Information Collection ]

To provide you with core auto-sync and export services, we collect the following types of information:

Information You Voluntarily Authorize: When you choose to log in to the Site via GitHub OAuth, we collect your GitHub account public information (including username, GitHub ID, avatar, public profile) and GitHub access token, with your explicit consent.

Your GitHub Data: We read and cache your starred repository list data (such as repository name, description, tags, URL, starred time, etc.).

Automatically Collected Technical Information: When you visit the Site, our servers or third-party analytics services may automatically log certain standard information, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, access date and time, and browsing behavior on the Site. This data is primarily used to maintain system security and optimize user experience.

[ Information Use ]

We use your information solely for the following specific and legitimate purposes:

Providing and Improving Services: We use your GitHub username and avatar to display your profile and login status on the Site, and to generate personalized Markdown export files for you.

Automated Daily Sync: We use your authorized Access Token to run daily scheduled background tasks (Cron Jobs) that automatically fetch and update your latest starred repository list, ensuring your data is always up to date when you visit the Site.

System Maintenance and Security: Collected technical logs are used to monitor server health, troubleshoot system errors, and prevent malicious attacks and fraudulent activities.

We will never use your information for other commercial purposes not described in this policy.

[ Information Sharing ]

We regard user privacy as a lifeline. Our sharing of your information is strictly limited to the following scope:

No Commercial Sharing: We will never sell, rent, share, or disclose your Access Token, GitHub account data, or any cached repository list to any third party for commercial purposes.

Third-Party Service Providers: To maintain the operation of the Site, we may share necessary anonymized technical data (such as IP addresses and browsing behavior) with compliant cloud service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, CDN acceleration services) or analytics providers (e.g., website traffic analytics tools). These providers process data only within the scope necessary to provide technical support to us.

Legal Compliance Disclosure: We may disclose your relevant information when required by law, litigation, or lawful requests from administrative or judicial authorities.

[ Cookies and Tracking Technologies ]

To ensure the proper functioning of the Site and optimize your browsing experience:

Essential Cookies and Local Storage: We use browser LocalStorage, SessionStorage, or encrypted Session Cookies to maintain your login status, remember your language preferences (e.g., /zh routing), or theme settings. This data remains entirely on your local device.

Third-Party Analytics: Our Site may embed third-party analytics cookies to collect anonymized traffic statistics. You may refuse or delete these cookies at any time by modifying your browser settings, though this may affect some convenience features of the Site.

[ Data Security ]

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction:

Strong Credential Encryption: Your GitHub Access Token is encrypted using industry-standard strong symmetric encryption algorithms (such as AES-256) before being stored in our backend database. Even in the event of an accidental database breach, plaintext tokens cannot be directly read or used.

Transport Encryption (HTTPS): HTTPS encrypted transport is enforced site-wide, ensuring your data (especially authorization credentials) is not intercepted in transit between your browser and our servers.

Least Privilege: The Site only requests the minimum necessary permissions from GitHub. We do not request, and cannot access, any of your private repositories, personal organization information, or passwords.

[ International Data Transfers ]

Because the servers and technical infrastructure used by the Site may be located outside of your country or region (e.g., hosted on globally recognized cloud service providers):

Your GitHub public information, encrypted Access Token, and website access logs may be transmitted to and stored on these offshore servers.

By accepting this Privacy Policy and authorizing login, you consent that your information may be transferred to jurisdictions where data protection laws may differ from those in your country or region. We will ensure that these service providers maintain compliant data protection standards.

[ Your Rights ]

We fully respect and guarantee your absolute control over your personal data. Under applicable law, you have the following rights:

Access and Export: You have the right to view the starred list we have synced for you after logging in, and to export it as a Markdown file at any time.

One-Click Complete Deletion (Account Deletion): We provide an explicit "Delete Account / Delete Data" option in the Site's account settings/billing section. Once you confirm deletion, we will immediately and permanently erase your Access Token, GitHub account information, and all historical sync caches from our server database.

Revoke Authorization at Any Time: You may revoke MkTime's authorization at any time by logging into your GitHub account and navigating to Settings → Applications → Authorized OAuth Apps. Once revoked, our stored Token will be automatically and permanently invalidated, and our backend tasks will no longer be able to access any of your data.

[ Children's Privacy ]

Our services are primarily intended for developers and adult GitHub users.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).

If you are the legal guardian of a minor and discover that your ward has used the Site and provided personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately using the contact information at the bottom of this policy. We will delete the relevant data as soon as possible upon verification.

[ Changes to This Policy ]

As the Site's features are updated, iterated, or as laws and regulations change, we may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time:

Any material changes will be posted on this page, and the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page will be modified.

For material changes involving data storage logic or expanded permissions, we will notify you through explicit announcements or popups when you next log into the Site. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
